Marriages

The Church of England Marriage Measure of 2008 lays down a number of “qualifying connections” which have made it possible for more people to get married now in the church of their choice. We are always delighted when it is possible to hold a wedding in any of the churches of our Benefice.

After an initial enquiry, followed by a meeting with the Vicar to go through certain necessary formalities, a couple will normally be invited to attend three preparation sessions to explore the Christian meaning of marriage and to discuss practical arrangements for the marriage service.

Our teams of flower arrangers are delighted to offer their advice and guidance for decorating the church. A team of bell ringers is available at St Nicholas’ and at St Mary’s; and our choir members are also very willing to provide support on the wedding day.

There is a rehearsal in church usually a couple of days before the day of the wedding.

Please contact the Vicar if you would like to marry in one of our churches.
